life. It is an example of how the Tang
Dynasty ushered in a new era.
The opening of China, as a result of
Taizong’s reign, reinvigorated arts (and
culture) and this effect lasted well beyond
the Emperor’s lifetime.

Oi Ling Chiang studied Arts and Humanities in
the US before returning to Hong Kong to run
her family’s antique business. She is a
recognised expert in Chinese antiques and has
been a consultant to private collectors,
