Li Jing subjugated many major nomadic tribes in the Tang border areas, turning them into vassal states of the Tang Empire. In the ode, he is portrayed as someone who recognized Taizong as the Mandate of Heaven, and therefore dedicated himself to assisting Taizong to the throne.
