Oi Ling Chiang’s personal collection and
will not be for sale.

The exhibition focuses on the dispersion and
disappearance of Chinese rare books. Ms
Chiang has said that by introducing this
subject she hopes to revisit some of the
episodes of recent Chinese history which
caused the fragmentation of the more refined
traditions and cultures in modern day China.
She goes on to say “We also take this
opportunity to clarify the terms
“Zhenben” 珍本 and “Shenben”
善本. The concept of reprint using an old
woodblock carved in previous dynasties is
also discussed. Along with discussion of
book printing in old China, we also expose
visitors to the exhibition to the different
