restoration.

When identifying a good piece of antique
furniture Oi Ling Chiang, one of three

whether it is a worthwhile piece in terms of
the overall aesthetic. This means the
proportion, the overall style and whether or
not the piece has a good ‘pedigree’. An
antique piece from a farmer’s dwelling, for
example, will be judged by different
standards: here we expect to find durability,
functionality and a ‘country’ aesthetic.
