Thephoto shows one of a pair. The size of this pair of horseshoes back armchairs is slightly larger than normal. Two other unusual features of this pair include the front and rare supporting stiles under the arms. Normal construction is that the front stiles under the arm often are extensions of the front legs while the rear stiles are extensions of the back legs. However the front stiles of this pair are recessed and carved in āSā shape while the back stiles are made slightly āCā shaped.
