A Noble Lady
This unglazed, painted red pottery figure represents the elegant noble lady of the high Tang period. This figure is depicted wearing a black robe with belt on the hips. The figure stands with one hand raised to the chest as if she is holding something in her palm whilst the other hand is down. Her shoes have a long and narrow upturn at the toes. This type of shoes was popular amongst the nobility of the Tang dynasty and would have been imported from along the Silk Road.
